Hey everybody I’m Dustin (aka “Dust”, “Abe”, “Mr. TBK” – don’t ask cuz I won’t tell you 
) and I’m a Finance major at the University of Arizona. Here is the story (as I see it) of how I became a member of Emmaus. (*insert western accent here) … I was born and raised a simple man. Growing up in Kingman, Arizona, life was like a herd of cattle – the only way to steer it through the terrain was to get your boots in them stirrups and ride like the wind. It was about 3 years ago when I decided it was high time for me to saddle up my horse (my perrty black Toyota Tacoma) and see the world…….. so naturally I migrated south to a little place I like to call Tucson, Arizona…. Not long after that, I started a one man country western band called Emmaus – which incidentally turned out to be the name of a town from the Good Book. Seein’ as how the name was so mighty holy, I decided to change to a Christian band – and the rest is history…….. Ok I’m totally kidding.
Seriously though…. I came to college at the University of Arizona ready to take control of my life - but God had a different plan for me. I remember seeing David Mares leading the music for mass the week I moved into my dorm. I knew instantly it was something I wanted to do, so I joined the choir and started singing every Wednesday night. About a year later, David asked me to join the band and make it a more permanent group. The rest is history. I’ve been singing my whole life, and Freshman year of college I picked up the acoustic guitar and started writing my own songs. I feel so blessed to be spending my time worshiping Jesus with such a spiritually strong group of people and I cannot wait to see what God has waiting for each of us.
